This year Disney is releasing a sequel to Pixar’s Cars and reviving Winnie The Pooh. They are also rebooting The Muppets (yes, I know its puppets and not animation) and this teaser looks like it might work: 84 Comments » posted in Disney, The Muppets May 16, 2011 1:03 am
My favorites are the actresses who slip a snort in the middle. Evil tends to work best with a touch of unhinged crazy. Full list of actresses after the jump: 20 Comments » posted in Disney, The Little Mermaid, Ursula May 13, 2011 3:44 pm
The war against terror didn’t end with Osama. Now it’s time to go after the root of Islamic terrorism — Disney’s 1992 feature Aladdin. The Tea Party Youth LA is starting its campaign in Orange County, home of Disneyland and patriotic Americans fighting terror. The video was created by Sameer Asad Gardezi, a staff writer for TV series like Modern Family, and Outsourced. He created the satirical piece as a response to the fervid anti-Muslim rally (linked above) that took place a few months ago in Yorba Linda, California, which is Gardezi’s hometown. Dan Adler is a former v-p of creative development at Walt Disney Imagineering. Now he’s running for Congress in California with kooky and borderline inappropriate ads like the ones above and below. His website features endorsements from people who’ll be familiar to the animation community, including former Disney CEO Michael Eisner, retired Imagineering exec Marty Sklar, and Geraldine Laybourne, who launched Nickelodeon’s original animation programming in the early 1990s. Have any Brew readers ever worked with him? 22 Comments » posted in Cartoon Culture, Disney, Dan Adler May 6, 2011 9:30 am
Over on our CB BIZ page, Chris Arrant has posted the synopsis for Pixar’s upcoming short film La Luna, which will premiere at the Annecy Animation Festival in June. Take a look and leave any comments you have about it there. No Comments » posted in Disney, Pixar, La Luna May 5, 2011 1:00 pm

Here’s a rare image of a couple of Disney greats who are rarely seen together: Mary Blair and Fred Moore. It’s at a wrap party for Three Caballeros hence the South American regalia. The guy putting the moves on Mary is Larry Lansburgh, a cameraman and the assistant production supervisor of Three Cabs. 17 Comments » posted in Animators, Disney, Fred Moore, Larry Lansburgh, Mary Blair April 30, 2011 11:18 pm
Tonight at the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner, President Barack Obama released his birth video, which turned out to be an animation-related joke. He then followed it by saying, “I want to make clear to the Fox News table — that was a joke. That was not my real birth video. That was a children’s cartoon. Call Disney if you don’t believe me. They have the original long-form version.” |
