Fantastic! Of the 3 stop-motion features this year this is the one I’m looking forward to the most. (I still can’t believe there’s 3 stop-motion features this year. What a treat!)

This looks great. I love the attention to detail – like when Norman is standing with his back to the sun and his ears are lit up. Can’t wait to see it.
It’s amazing that there are three awesome looking films in stop-motion coming out this year.
The ones I’m most to least looking forward to are:
1. ParaNorman
2. The Pirates! Band of Misfits
3. Frankenweenie

Love the whole look and design from what we’re seeing so far… And I’m REALLY excited to see some of the development and pre-pro art for the film, too. :)
This looks like FUN. Real fun, not lame jokes that passes as fun. It looks like the story will be more accesible than the one in Coraline (Neil Gaiman’s style is a little weird). This looks like a combination of a fun adventure movie from the 80s like The Goonies or the original Fright Night combined with a visual style that, unlike Monster House, it actually justifies that it’s made in animation. Can’t wait to see it.
Actually, the weirdest part about Coraline was HENRY SELICK’S style. Selick made a lot of changes to Neil Gaiman’s story in his movie adaptation. I really liked the film upon my initial viewing(s) of it, but a little later I read the book and LOVED it. Practically none of the changes Henry Selick makes are for the better. And a lot of things actually make more sense/are more interesting in Gaiman’s novel. Check it out if you haven’t done so already.
This has a very quirky feel to it, which is good for me, because it doesn’t feel as predictable as other animated features.

I hope Laika would release an “Art of Paranorman” book for this movie,the last Coraline book was a disappointment.
I haven’t seen such well-articulated movement in a stop-motion feature since..well, Coraline! Can’t wait for this!

This looks so much better than Frankenweenie. But I hope both do well for the name of stop motion! That pirates movie looks amazing to.

I hope Paranorman makes a lot of money, so Hollywood can let the Zombie theme rest in peace… for a while at least ;)

This looks more interesting than Frankenweenie. I mean, Frankenweenie looks cool, but it feels like ParaNorman is doing lots more interesting things.
Agreed. ParaNorman looks as fresh and artistically innovative today as Nightmare Before Christmas did 20 years ago. I miss the days that seeing the name “Tim Burton” excited me as much as this trailer does. I suppose all things come and go, but it is kind of disappointing how Frankenweenie seems much less exciting than ParaNorman. I’ll see both in theaters, of course, and then fully considered judgements can be made. As for now, just based on the trailers, they are not even close.
I’m still in disbelief that some of the animation is stop-motion. Proud to say that the folks at Laika are taking it a step higher while making a charming flick that’s fun to watch.
Looks interesting, nice stop motion, and some pretty funny jokes. If I hear it’s good I’ll go see it.
