stamps

Ireland’s An Post has released a set of four stamps which use augmented reality technology to bring Irish animated characters to life.

The 68 cent stamps highlight two Oscar-nominated films—Cartoon Saloon’s feature-length The Secret of Kells, and Brown Bag’s short film Give Up Yer Aul Sins—as well as two animated television series, Nelly & Nora and Roy.

Users can scan any one of the stamps with the CEE app for iOS or Android to watch a short film featuring clips from all four animated works. The app also reveals background information on the animated projects. The stamp set was designed by Vermilion Design.

The newest animated work to be featured in the stamp set is Geronimo Productions’s Nelly & Nora, an animated television series which premiered last month. The animated mockumentary series Roy, based on the short film Badly Drawn Roy, won the Children’s BAFTA Drama Award in 2012.
