‘Incredibles 2’ Teaser Gives Us Our First Look At The Brad Bird Sequel

The Incredibles are back in a feature film after 13 years, and the film picks up exactly where the last one ended.

The emphasis on Bob and Jack-Jack in this first public footage offers a hint of the film’s general tone: this time, Helen Parr is in the spotlight, leaving Bob in the domestic role, at home with Violet, Dash, and baby Jack-Jack, whose powers are just starting to bloom.

Brad Bird writes and directs. The film is produced by John Walker (The Incredibles) and Nicole Grindle (producer, Sanjay’s Super Team; associate producer, Toy Story 3), “Incredibles 2” busts into theaters on June 15, 2018.

Incredibles 2 opens in U.S. theaters June 15, 2018.

  • Jack Newman

Considering how much better the animation is, I think the fourteen year wait was worth it.

    • Chuck

Umm. No.. no it was not. Haha. Animation from the previous movie would have been totally fine!

      • Mark Brackney

Still, you can just tell by Jack-Jack, alone that the animation software has been updated.

        Haha.

        • Mesterius

          Haha.

  • Marielle

When they said it would focus on the mom, I thought they would make her the main character and tell the story from her point of view. Now I think what they mean is that the mom is working outside the home and the dad is staying home with the kid, but they still tell his story from his perspective.

    • Jack Newman

No, Helen is the main focus. Jack Jack having powers and Bob finding out is the side plot.

    • Mario Bros

Who knows it’s too early to say, it’s hard to get any true info from a teaser.

    • Cale

I think it’ll be like how Marlin and Dory’s roles were reversed in Finding Dory.

    • Mesterius

Read the YouTube video’s description. “Everyone’s favorite family of superheroes is back in “Incredibles 2” – but this time Helen (voice of Holly Hunter) is in the spotlight, leaving Bob (voice of Craig T. Nelson) at home with Violet (voice of Sarah Vowell) and Dash (voice of Huck Milner) to navigate the day-to-day heroics of “normal” life.” Helen is IN THE SPOTLIGHT. It’s clear that she will be the number one main character in this film, like Bob was in the first one.

      • Mario Bros

Well come to think about it, we already saw Bob’s arc in the first movie; doing it again would be kind of pointless. Let’s see what they can do with Helen.

      • Marielle

I hope you’re right! I find her intriguing for sure.

    • Doconnor

Its common for the trailers for Disney movies (especially the really good ones) to concentrate on the gags and leave out the real meat of the story. It’s a good sign the Helen is left out of the teaser. Elsa barely appeared in the Frozen trailers.

      • Mesterius

Correction: it’s common for the TEASER trailers. Disney’s full trailers give away so much information that I’ve stopped watching them.

  • Bob

    I’m sad they aren’t older

    • Cale

At least we get to see what happened with the Underminer.

      • Mesterius

I just can’t understand how many people want a sequel “to see what happened with the Underminer”. He was used as a JOKE in the ending of the first film. His whole purpose was to show the family going into action as a united team, thus ending on a high note. Do people really not get this? The Incredibles would have dealt with the guy in a matter of minutes (and obviously will, in the beginning of film 2).

      • Andrew Kieswetter

I somehow think the Underminer will be in the sequel, considering he was voiced by John Ratzenberger,Pixar’s favorite voice actor.

        • Mesterius

He will of course be in the film — we already know that it will start right where the first one ended. But he obviously won’t be much of a threat to the heroes.

    • Roman Reigns Owns The IWC

I never found that to be a must, I just wanted a sequel. Plus with Fantastic Four not doing so well right now in film, I like that they are keeping the family dynamic

      • bob

of course it’s not a must… it was my hope and opinion. Does age negate a family dynamic? Obviously not.. it just changes it. I love the idea of them being somewhat older. What does fantastic four have to do with this?

        • Rocktave

I was hoping for the same. I feel like it was a great story opportunity to see how Dash and Violet developed into young adults, not to mention the obvious complications of a teen Jack-Jack.

  • Andrew Kieswetter

I hope Edna Mode makes an appearance in the sequel.

  • Vinod

I like Pixar movies, But The baby Dreamworks pulled off in Boss Baby is way too cute.

  • Strong Enough

surprised they let craig t nelson back. he’s a nutcase

    • Mesterius

Seriously? He plays MR. INCREDIBLE. To hire someone else, all the while he is very much available, would have been unthinkable.

    • Barrett

I don’t know much about him other than his work on Coach and as Mr. Incredible. What makes him any more of a “nutcase” than half of Hollywood? I’m more dismayed to learn that good old John Ratzenberger is a hard-right Trumpist. To me, that’s even worse than the revelations today about Lasseter.

    • Robert Holmén

What a difference a few days makes. We’re finding out the place is run by nuts and bad judgement.
