It’s Official: ‘Teen Titans Go!’ Is Headed To Movie Theaters

The popular Cartoon Network series Teen Titans Go! will make the leap to the bigscreen on July 27, 2018.

Warner Bros. hasn’t released any details about the full-length theatrical version of TTG!, besides confirming the title and release date.

Greg Cipes, who voices Beast Boy on the series, also confirmed the news on his Twitter account:

The film will follow in the footsteps of other American animated series that have transitioned to the bigscreen including The Simpsons, Rugrats, Beavis & Butt-head, Spongebob Squarepants, Lego Ninjago, and next month’s My Little Pony.

TTG! is a spin-off of the Teen Titans animated series. Developed and produced by Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic, the comedic take on DC’s Teen Titans superhero team has been a ratings hit for Cartoon Network and resulted in 192 short-form episodes in its four seasons to date.

A part of me is waiting in both nervous excitement (for it to fail) and nervous fear (for it to succeed).

  • Kash Akinsade

I would be great if it’s animated like the original “New Teen Titans” shorts.

  • Elsi Pote

Well, everybody wanted the return 2d animated features but they forgot to mention what kind.

Please don’t even bother in reviewing this movie in the future, just accept it for what it is: mindless and senseless fun for the young ones. There shall be a Lego Ninjago movie and nothing more.

    • Jack Franco

It would be nice if it was hand drawn opposed to flash like how the MLP movie is doing it but it’s teen Titans go so I shouldn’t expect that

What do you want to bet all the “cartoon fans” (you know, the grown adults who obsess over a bunch of shows made for 8 year olds and reminisce about how great cartoons were when they were kids) that rant and rave about how horrible the show is will go see the movie anyway?

Because they do the same thing with the TV show, they claim to hate it with a flaming passion yet they still watch it and contribute to the excellent ratings…

I like the show from the one or two episodes I’ve seen, I think it’s funny. I’m gonna definitely check it out. If the movie makes money and pisses off “cartoon fans” even more, that’s just icing on the cake.

As someone who rants about the show, I’m not seeing this movie. I got better movies to see next year. Avengers 4, Incredibles 2, Deadpool 2, Ant Man & The Wasp, I don’t have time to screw around with some bad or mediocre film based on a bad show. I don’t even watch the show anymore, I gave it a chance, it failed to impress me. How dare I think the show is bad and voice my opinion though, right?

    • Barrett

I don’t rant and raver about the show, but from what I’ve seen of it, it’s just not my speed. It’s like “Teen Titans Superdeformed Comedy Shorts Special.” I mean, having something like this as a one-off like the DC Nation Shorts? Cool. Replacing the traditional Teen Titans show with this? Feh. I wasn’t a huge fan of the original Teen Titans, but I liked that it, like its DC Animated series forebears, tended to tell action-oriented half-hour stories with real drama. The more quick-quippy slapsticky TTG is just not for me, so I just don’t watch it. Apparently many people do, though all the animation geeks I know seem to either ignore or actively hate it.

man, they’re really pushing this show HARD. Is it really that big of a hit?
I wonder if this will be a big feature, or a made-for-tv sort of thing with a limited theatrical release (like Regular Show or Equestria Girls) https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/b34bc02e579a3bfa25fe8caa01594866323f9af756b0c082e22b84c359b6a34c.jpg

It’s a big hit with the kiddies, a pain for almost everyone else.

      • Barrett

It makes me wonder what kids who grew up with this show and who have never seen the early 2000s Teen Titans series would think of that show. Would they be able to appreciate it’s more deliberate pace and serious storytelling?

        • Roman Reigns Owns The IWC

Who knows? Some may not like it because it isn’t like TTG.

        • Alan_Gabriel

I guess we’re finding that out, since Cartoon Network has been running the OG Teen Titans show for a little over a month now.

  • K W

the best thing about go is it keeps cn showing rerun eps of the old teen titans, the one where they’re superheros. ill probably see it anyway.

  • Alberto Herrera Jr.

It makes me sad that Warner Bros decided to make this before the Adventure Time and Gumball movies.

  • Harry D

I’d much rather a Gumball movie to be irritably honest.

  • Parra

OH. Its a nice new for me. I really fan of this adaptation films based of animated cartoon tv shows. WOW. Its time to pay for watch a long hour special on cinemas.

  • LilAngelDarlin’

I’m not a big fan of TTG honestly. It’s just too childish and immature. What I loved about the original TTs is how it wasn’t afraid of being so grim and dark as well as “mature” at times despite being rated TV-7. Not a lot of cartoons can become so dark and bleak without gaining controversy yet, TTs has been able to do so and gained a ton of fans for it.

Whereas TTG is the utter opposite. That’s just my opinion obviously though

So CN finally decides to do a 2nd theatrical movie…and it’s not Adventure Time..but this? You know what, fine, whatever. Least were getting TV shows movies back on big screen again. God willing, this’ll either be good or at least make enough movie for other shows that deserve it.
