GLAS Animation Festival 2020: ‘Genius Loci’ Wins 2 Awards, Including $25K FXX Prize

The Berkeley-based festival is handing out its full set of awards despite canceling this year’s edition.

The U.K. animation industry gathered earlier this month in London to celebrate its recent achievements at the British Animation Awards.

The awards recognize achievements in European animated feature filmmaking. The winners will be announced on March 5.

A total of 22 works — features, shorts, series, and video games — from nine Ibero-American countries are in contention for an award.

The winners of the awards, which range across film, tv, and digital media, will be announced on March 23-29.

80 films have been selected for this year’s competition.

“The best visual effects in the world will not compensate for a story told badly,” said the Visual Effects Society in a statement.
