Ever wanted to see your animation on a building?  Now is your chance…

Think GIANT — GIRAF is now looking for Animated Installation submissions, in all styles, genres, lengths, and mediums.   GIRAF, or the Giant Incandescent Resonating Animation Festival (est 2005), is an annual animation festival that celebrates the spirit of independent, underground, and experimental animation, in Calgary Alberta Canada.

Chosen submissions will be presented through the Animated City component of our 7th GIRAF festival, Nov 2-6, 2011.  From buildings to storefront windows, animations will be projected on a large scale in high traffic locations, around the city of Calgary.

Applicants are encouraged to envision what space your animation would augment, but all final decisions for display will be made by the GIRAF programming committee. Consider that presentation will be installation based, and that your animation may need to be looped. Also consider that presentation during Animated City does not guarantee sound, and thus pieces that form a strong visual presence and/or narrative without the use of sound are preferable.

We DO NOT CHARGE A SUBMISSION FEE, and encourage local, national, and international submissions
