Paramount Pictures and Nickelodeon Movies’ PAW Patrol: The Mighty Movie was the number two film at the global box office over the weekend, earning an estimated $31.5 million from 68 territories. $24.5M of that came from offshore markets.

The film has now grossed $126.4M globally, making it the eighth highest-grossing animated feature of 2023. Still going strong, it should easily pass China’s Deep Sea ($136M) in seventh and Paramount’s other big, animated release of the year, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem ($180.3M), in sixth.

Mighty Movie is now a lock to pass PAW Patrol: The Movie’s lifetime global total of $144.3M.

Mighty Movie is directed by Cal Brunker and sees the popular PAW Patrol pups imbued with superpowers that transform them into the Mighty Pups. It’s an especially exciting development for the runt of the litter, Skye, who must learn that even the smallest dog can make a huge difference.

Domestically, Mighty Movie made $7M over the past weekend, good for third place. Its North American total now sits at $49.9M. That’s already ahead of the first film’s entire lifetime domestic gross of $40.1M, although that film was simultaneously released on Paramount+.

According to Deadline, Mighty Movie’s success has significantly impacted the brands’ engagement on the Nickelodeon network, Paramount+, and consumer products. This year, PAW Patrol is projected to generate over $1.5B in retail sales, and the first film is the most rewatched original/exclusive film on Paramount+.
