Disney Television Animation has appointed former Nickelodeon executive Zack Olin as its senior vice president of development and current series.

The announcement was made by Meredith Roberts, executive vice president of Disney Television Animation, who will oversee Olin in his new position. Olin will lead both development and current series across the studio’s catalog, shaping creative strategy and supporting ongoing productions behind series such as Big City Greens and Phineas and Ferb.

In a studio release, Roberts wrote of Olin:

Zack brings an exceptional creative sensibility and a deep understanding of how great stories are told and sustained over time. He has a strong track record of shaping bold storytelling, supporting creators and driving creative excellence, and he will be a key partner as we continue to deliver beloved animated series and movies for audiences around the world, now and for generations to come.

For his part, Olin added:

I’ve always been drawn to animation because of its scale, its heart, and the way it stays with audiences over time. Getting to do that at Disney Television Animation and Disney Branded Television alongside Meredith, Ayo Davis, and some of the most extraordinary creators and animators in the industry is the kind of opportunity you work toward over a career.

Olin joins Disney after a year spent independently developing and producing series and films. Before that, he held senior leadership roles at Nickelodeon and Awesomeness, overseeing both series and feature development. His recent credits include Monster High: The Movie, XO, Kitty, and School Spirits, spanning live-action and animated projects.

Earlier in his career, Olin spent 13 years at ABC and ABC Studios, where he supervised a slate that included Grown-ish, Speechless, and Happy Endings. He began his career at Fox, working in development and current programming across animation, comedy, and drama, with involvement in projects such as Titan A.E., The Simpsons, and American Dad.
