Hexed Hexed

Disney has released the first trailer and poster for Hexed, a fantasy coming-of-age adventure from directors Fawn Veerasunthorn and Jason Hand that will hit theaters on November 25.

The film marks the 65th animated feature from Walt Disney Animation Studios and follows Billie, a teenage girl voiced by Hailee Steinfeld, who unexpectedly discovers magical powers and finds herself transported from suburbia into a hidden realm known as Hogw… Hexe.

The studio also announced two new additions to the cast. Seven-time Emmy winner Tracey Ullman will voice Ms. Quill, an enchanted feather quill pen, while Stephen Fry will play Elias Quire, a magical journal. They join previously announced cast members Steinfeld and Rashida Jones, who voices Billie’s mother, Alice.

Director Fawn Veerasunthorn described Billie as a young woman struggling to understand her place in the world.

A wonderfully strange phenomenon is happening all around Billie, something she can’t explain. She’s someone who has felt miscast in her own life, and it takes leaving her normal world behind and entering a hidden world of wild, unhinged magic to begin to understand herself.

Co-director Jason Hand said that the magical realm offers Billie a sense of belonging that she has not previously experienced.

Hexe is a place where Billie begins to feel seen for the first time in her life. She embarks on a journey of self-discovery that reveals a powerful connection to magic, and in the process uncovers long-held secrets about her family.

Hexed is directed by Veerasunthorn and Hand, with Josie Trinidad serving as co-director. The film is produced by Roy Conli and Yvett Merino.
