View Conference will host the filmmakers behind all five of this year’s animated feature Oscar nominees during a free, live online panel on February 27.

The one-hour session brings together a diverse slate of filmmakers. Participating directors include Ugo Bienvenu (Arco), Madeline Sharafian and Domee Shi (Elio), Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans (KPop Demon Hunters), Maïlys Vallade and Liane-Cho Han (Little Amélie or the Character of Rain), and Byron Howard (Zootopia 2). The panel will be moderated by Animation Magazine editor-in-chief Ramin Zahed.

Hosted by Italy’s View Conference, the event is scheduled for 9:00 a.m. PST / 6:00 p.m. CET and includes a live Q&A, allowing digital attendees to submit questions directly to the filmmakers. Registration is free and open to the public here.

“This year’s Best Animated Feature nominees represent an extraordinary range of voices, techniques, and storytelling traditions,” said View Conference director Dr. Maria Elena Gutierrez in her announcement of the chat.

The panel also serves as a lead-up to View Conference 2026, which will take place October 12–16 in Turin, Italy. Known for its English-language programming and strong emphasis on animation, VFX, games, and emerging technologies, View has become a key international gathering point for both established and emerging talent.

For animation professionals, students, and fans alike, the Oscar nominees panel offers a unique snapshot of where the animation industry stands today, not only at the big studios but also with the international talent that often pushes the medium further than a rigid Hollywood pipeline would allow.
