Annecy WIP 2026 Annecy WIP 2026

Annecy has unveiled this year’s lineup for its always-popular Work in Progress sessions, featuring a mix of international indies, big-budget studio productions, and prestigious award-winning TV continuations.

On the feature side of things, several exciting presentations will surely feature among the festival’s hottest tickets this year. India’s Baahubali: The Eternal War comes to the French festival with lots of hype and the hopes of a nation’s relatively young animation fandom. Animation has traditionally not imported well in India, and original productions have been few and far between. Certainly, the country has never seen anything of the scale and ambition of Baahubali, a two-part CG-animated epic from RRR filmmaker SS Rajamouli’s team, directed by Star Wars: Visions alum Ishan Shukla and written by Scott Mosier (director of The Grinch).

Cécile McLorin Salvant’s Ogresse has been one of Europe’s most exciting upcoming titles for a couple of years now. Blending jazz, folklore, and mixed animation techniques into a distinctive feminist musical, the film adapts Salvant’s stage work into a visually rich concoction, bringing her music and storytelling to life. An accomplished production team led by Miyu and co-produced by Helium Films and Abuscade Films promises something really special.

Former Annecy winner Benjamin Massoubre (co-director of Little Nicolas) will be back at the festival with something completely different in The Wolf (Le Loup), a grown-up story about a shepherd haunted by the loss of his son. The solitary figure’s life is thrown into chaos when a wolf slaughters his entire flock, leading to a revenge narrative that pits man against beast. There isn’t much out there about this one yet, and its WIP presentation is sure to be a festival highlight.

Other high-profile features pitching in this year’s WIP lineup include Netflix’s Steps, Wildbrain and Apple TV’s Snoopy Unleashed, and Toei Animation’s Monkey Quest. The full lineup is included below.

Perhaps the most hyped pitch among this year’s WIP sessions, however, will come from the three-title TV lineup, with Common Side Effects Season 2 set to be the focus of one of this year’s presentations. The two other TV titles are the international Astro Boy reboot and Disney and Pixar’s Cars: Lightning Racers.
