The hand-drawn comedy-adventure follows nine-year-old Emma as she spends her first summer away from her parents on the volcanic island where her grandparents and cousins live. Her newfound freedom comes with unexpected supervision from the Pantùs, imposing aquatic creatures that protect the island and are determined to look after Emma, too.

Created for kids 6-8, the 52 x 11-minute series is co-written by Giulia Iacopini and Julien Gallet and directed by Camille Chao. Perrine Gauthier is producing for La Cabane in co-production with Thuristar.

Ahead of the project’s pitch, Gauthier said:

We’re excited to present this new original IP at Cartoon Forum, after the successful pitches of Luce and the Rock and The Wolf’s Dinner, both set for release in 2027. Developed between Italy, France and Belgium, Emma Makes Waves is a European collaboration and Cartoon Forum is the perfect place to bring it to life.

La Cabane is also nominated for Cartoon Forum’s inaugural Ecoprod-Cartoon Tribute, recognizing environmentally responsible animation production.
