Archer Archer

HBO has ordered two seasons of Merrick & Treves, a new half-hour adult animated comedy from Archer veterans Adam Reed, Casey Willis, and Lucky Yates.

The trio will co-create and executive produce the series, which reunites three longtime collaborators whose credits also include the cult animated comedy Frisky Dingo.

Set in Victorian England, Merrick & Treves follows a team of unlikely heroes working for Queen Victoria’s top-secret Royal Temporal Constabulary. Their mission takes them back and forth through time as they attempt to stop Jack the Ripper.

Reed is best known as the creator of FX’s Archer, the long-running adult animated spy comedy that concluded in 2023 after 14 seasons. Willis served as an executive producer and showrunner on the series, while Yates voiced the eccentric scientist Dr. Algernop Krieger.

“Adam, Casey, and Lucky are exceptional comedic talents whom we have admired for years,” said Amy Gravitt, HBO’s executive vice president of programming and head of comedy series. “We couldn’t be more excited to team up with them to bring the wholly original Merrick & Treves to HBO audiences.”

The creators were similarly enthusiastic, if slightly overwhelmed, by the news.

“We can’t wait to start working with the creative team behind so many of our favorite shows,” they said in a joint statement. “It’s actually quite daunting, now that we think about it. Like, holy shit, y’all. HBO.”

TFC Productions is producing the series, with Joel Begleiter executive producing and Kelly Wu serving as co-executive producer. HBO has not announced a premiere date.
