‘South Park’ Wins First Emmy In 13 Years, Trolls Trump: ‘You Finally Got Your Emmy’

South Park won this year’s Emmy for Outstanding Animated Program at the Creative Arts ceremony on Sunday night, earning Trey Parker and Matt Stone’s Comedy Central series its first prize in the category in 13 years.

After the ceremony wrapped, the show’s Twitter account took another shot at the president, posting an image of a pants-less Trump holding an Emmy and the message: “You finally got your Emmy,” a joke referencing Trump’s long-held grudge over never winning an Emmy for The Apprentice.

This year’s animation Emmy was awarded for South Park’s season 27 premiere, “Sermon on the ’Mount,” in which the show took aim at Donald Trump, his administration, and Comedy Central parent company Paramount, with whom the duo had been feuding publicly.

It was South Park’s fifth win for Outstanding Animated Program. Previous Emmy-winning episodes and specials included “Best Friends Forever” (2005), “Make Love, Not Warcraft” (2007), the three-part “Imaginationland” story (2008), “Margaritaville” (2009), and “Raising the Bar” (2013).

“Sermon on the ’Mount” topped other nominated episodes from Bob’s Burgers, Rick and Morty, The Simpsons, Smiling Friends, and Star Wars: Visions.

Parker was also nominated for Outstanding Character Voice-Over Performance for playing Satan in the episode “The Crap Out,” but lost to Julie Andrews for Bridgerton. His song “Christian Woman,” from the same episode, was also nominated for Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics.
