ViacomCBS has fleshed out its strategy for one-year-old streaming service Paramount+. It has reaffirmed that tried-and-tested animated IP is at the heart of things.
The parent company is doubling down on the branding by ditching its ViacomCBS moniker and renaming itself Paramount Global. It has also clarified that, whether through Paramount+ or SkyShowtime, it will have a streaming service available in over 60 markets by the year’s end. (SkyShowtime is a platform jointly run with Comcast that will launch in some European countries; its content will be drawn in part from Paramount+.)
Accompanying this news, Paramount Global unveiled new shows and catalog titles for its Paramount+ slate. All past episodes of South Park and Beavis and Butt-Head will come to the platform alongside new seasons and films. New Spongebob Squarepants, Sonic the Hedgehog, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are also on the lineup.
