They’re Back Baby! Hulu Shifts ‘Futurama’ To Binge Release: Full Season 13 Drops September 15
Hulu has unveiled a new release strategy for its fan-favorite animated series Futurama. Season 13 lands on Hulu on September 15, and, for the first time in the show’s history, all 10 episodes will drop at once.
The streamer also dropped several first-look images, seen below:
For linear audiences, FXX will handle a staggered rollout, serving up two episodes weekly, starting the same night. It’s a hybrid release strategy that reflects Futurama’s unusual place in the animation world, equal parts cult classic and mainstream stalwart, despite its several cancellations over the years. Notably, the show ranked among Nielsen’s Top 10 Streaming Originals of 2024, signaling its continued relevance in an increasingly crowded animation market.
Season 13 itself promises plenty of the franchise’s signature sci-fi chaos: Bender rampaging out of control, a looming volcanic eruption, romantic competition for Fry, and Zoidberg ascending to heaven.
The original voice cast returns in full force, with John DiMaggio, Billy West, Katey Sagal, and Tress MacNeille back behind the mics. The creative reins remain with Matt Groening and David X. Cohen, joined by long-time collaborators Ken Keeler and Claudia Katz—a team well-known for balancing genre parody, contemporary comedy, and grounded character arcs.
Since its 1999 premiere, Futurama has carved out a unique place in the animation landscape, cycling through network runs, direct-to-DVD features, and now, its second streaming season.
