Leading French animation producer and distributor Dandelooo is expanding beyond its traditional children’s and preschool business by launching a new division dedicated to teen and YA programming.
The Paris-based company is introducing the label with two French comedy series: Passion Paris’ completed Apocalypse Mojito (which we’ve been keen on since seeing it pitched as a project at Cartoon Forum in 2023) and Je Suis Bien Content’s Armageddon Pizza, currently in production. Both shows use end-of-the-world scenarios to address environmental and social anxieties through comedy.
Dandelooo partner and producer Emmanuèle Pétry said the company began looking for its next series for viewers ages 12 and older following the success of Lastman, the acclaimed action series produced by Everybody on Deck.
In a release, Pétry explained:
Jean-Baptiste Wéry, Gennarino Romano, and I have been looking for the next great 12+ animated series. We are thrilled to kick off this new department with two absurd comedies that tackle eco-anxiety in a fun way and are delighted to be working with the very talented studios JSBC and Passion Paris.
Apocalypse Mojito
A 10 x 7-minute 2D series directed by Julien Seze and produced by Passion Paris, part of the international animation and documentary company Passion Pictures.
Set in 2100, after climate change has destroyed civilization and technology has evolved in unexpected ways, the series follows Yolo and Wazo as they travel between ruined villages and cities with their mobile guinguette, a French open-air café and dance floor. Along the way, they encounter survivors who continue repeating many of the mistakes that brought about humanity’s collapse.
Armageddon Pizza
A 26 x 13-minute program directed by Aurélien Bouillon and Fabien Limousin and produced by French studio Je Suis Bien Content, whose credits include Persepolis, April and the Extraordinary World, Mars Express, and Lastman.
The show takes place during a zombie outbreak that has confined Paris’ surviving population to their homes. With residents desperate for food and entertainment, three minimum-wage workers, Barbara, Quentin, and Paul, venture into the zombie-infested city on homemade scooters to deliver pizzas. Their manager, Didier, oversees the operation.
According to Dandelooo, its new division is looking for creator-led projects distinguished by strong comedy and storytelling. It marks the company’s latest expansion into a new market, following the 2024 launch of Dandelooo Cinéma, its theatrical feature division.
Dandelooo will introduce Apocalypse Mojito and Armageddon Pizza to international buyers at Mipcom in October.
