The Nacelle Company is reviving the cult ’90s property Wild West C.O.W.-Boys of Moo Mesa with a new animated series set to debut in 2027. The announcement comes ahead of San Diego Comic-Con and is part of Nacelle’s growing shared universe of reimagined toy and animation brands, known as the Nacelleverse.

Created in 1991 by Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles artist Ryan Brown, the original series spawned toys, comics, a Saturday morning cartoon on ABC, and an arcade game. It’s opening titles theme remains a fan-favorite to this day.

Details about the series

  • The new series will consist of eight episodes and is set in the 1800s.
  • Returning characters include Moo Montana, Cowlorado Kid, Dakota Dude, Cowlamity Kate, Lily Bovine, and Cody Calf.
  • Villains like Mayor Oscar Bulloney and Sheriff Terrorbull will also return.
  • A four-issue comic miniseries, C.O.W.-Boys of Moo Mesa: Origins, launches this September via Oni Press as a prelude

Nacelle is currently in talks with celeb collaborators, following a model established with other Nacelleverse entries like Robo Force, which saw the involvement of Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Biker Mice from Mars, executive produced by Ryan Reynolds’ Maximum Effort. Other titles in the Nacellverse, which will share a narrative continuity, include Sectaurs: Warriors of Symbion, The Great Garloo, and Barnyard Commandos.
