The funny stop motion specialists at Los Angeles-based Screen Novelties have created a new holiday special Elf: Buddy’s Musical Christmas, which is set to debut on NBC on Tuesday, December 16th (8pm ET/PT). Screen Novelties also created the 2012 Nickelodeon Christmas special It’s a SpongeBob Christmas!

Based on the 2003 Will Ferrell comedy and subsequent Broadway adaptation “Elf: The Musical,” the hour-long special will including 9 songs, among them “Happy All the Time,” “A Christmas Song” and “Nobody Cares About Santa Claus.” Jim Parsons (The Big Bang Theory) voices Buddy, the lead.

Warner Bros. Animation produced the project. Mark Caballero and Seamus Walsh directed from a script by Thomas Meehan, Bob Martin, Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic.
