Edd Gould (1988-2012)

British animation artist Edd Gould passed away on Sunday, March 25 from leukemia. He was the creator of the popular online animation series Eddsworld, which achieved a devoted following on numerous video platforms including Newgrounds and YouTube. On YouTube alone, his shorts have been viewed over 80 million times. The Eddsworld universe also included comics and Flash games. Gould animated all the shorts, co-wrote them, and provided some of the voices. It is not clear at this point whether the series will continue without his participation, but the rest of the Eddsworld crew has promised fans that they will finish the two-part episode that Gould was working on at the time of his death.

Rest in Peace, Edd. I never knew him nor have he and I corresponded. Looking back, I wish I had given it a shot. He was only a year older than me and had accomplished more in his short time than I even tried. I remember the first episode of Edd’s World that I watched was “WTFuture.” My ex had shown it to me. I remember thinking to myself that whoever created this injected quite a lot of personality into it. That’s what made his cartoons great.

    Way, way too young. RIP.

So sad… it really shocks you just that bit little more when someone your age passes away. Thanks for being a part of all this wacky stuff, life, cartoons, the web & what not. Cancer is something that is never picky and all too often is visited upon those you would lest expect. Goodbye young man, my blessings to your family and your loved ones.
    Cheers.

This boy was born literally a year after me and he accomplished so much. Major respect to that!
Condolences to his family and friends in this hard time. Rest in Peace, Edd. Thanks for making Eddsworld.

Oh no… This is so very, very sad. I watched a lot of his cartoons a year ago and really enjoyed them. I remember wondering how his work will look in 10 years or so. Already he had accomplished more than a lot of older animators have. It was just a bunch of friends making cartoons just for the pure joy of it… and it is one of the greatest flash series in the internet – good personal comedy and extraordinary, vivid Flash animation.
This is so sad. And what’s making me really upset are those trolls and haters posting disrespectful comments under his work. Humankind, what is wrong with you?

Thoughts and prayers for his family in this difficult time. I’m very glad he was able to touch so many people during his time here on Earth.

Another reminder that none of us will be here long, so make every day count.

Not an ounce of bad in this guy. So goddamn unfortunate. Edd will be missed.
