“Transfer” by Fantasista Utamaro

One of the coolest videos I’ve seen in a while – this entire video is essentially a walk cycle of an anime girl running through all kinds of art-styles. It’s actually quite hypnotizing. Music by Livetune, directed by Fantasista Utamaro and Kubotabee.

That was six minutes of fun, and an impressive variety of animation styles. I wouldn’t mind seeing more videos like this.

I could hang with it for the first half. After that it looks like they were getting short on funds.

I’m sure it was pretty daunting to come up with different settings/styles to fit the action into as it does loop over and over and the timing has to be consistent every time. The girl certainly doesn’t change appearance throughout the short, yet it’s how each segment differs in the plotting and follow-through of those settings. I’m sure it’s a tough act to follow on, and I wasn’t sure if we needed a better climax than what we got.

    That was awesome!

Now that’s a good example of what I was thinking of! The way we see these different scenarios set up and see how it develops and collides as it does at the end is certainly an interesting concept if handled right. It sorta made me think of the work of Paul Driessen at times with some of his multi-layered approaches.

Not bad. Some good animation. I just wish they gave us an ending to the story. Maybe have the girl get to the place she was running to. It just kind of ends.

Other then that it was fun.

i think it’s one of those “it’s not about the destination, it’s about the journey” type things

  • Wow, anime with school girls and panty shots. Never seen that before.

Some in the loop were pretty cool: the colored pencil one, and the trippy ones especially.

This reminds me a lot of the beginning of Project A-ko
