Artist of the Day: Todd James, Creator of Miley Cyrus’ Twerkin’ Bears

Todd James

(Editor’s Note: Even though everyone is talking about Todd James this week, we wish to point out that this post was prepared long before the debut of his twerkin’ bears for Miley Cyrus.)

Todd “REAS” James cut his creative teeth as a youth by writing graffiti in New York City before eventually expanding his output into art galleries, printed matter and television.

Todd’s drawings are produced with confident, swift lines and are boldly colorful.

Todd is one of the nicest and most talented people I know. He’s a source of constant inspiration. It’s nice to see his work up here Chris.

Thanks for the link to the Hollywood Reporter article on Todd James. Interesting read. The dancing bear suits were the best thing about that VMA performance.

Don’t know how long he’s been doing this style, but his personal stuff looks quite a bit like the Y’all So Stupid series.

ZK I’m glad you point similarity to Devin Flynn Creator of “Yall So Stupid” he is one of my best friends going a few decades and we have worked together on a few animation projects together including the Theme music segment of ATHF movie. He does a lot more animation than I do and it would be great to see him on here as well.

Hannah Montana aside (blah!) I think those bear designs and his design work overall are pretty sweet.

There is a certain flair to some of his stuff that reminds me of late 1960s-era psychedelic style pop art.
