‘The Story of An Idea’ by F.X. Goby

“This is a story for anyone who has ever had an idea, big or small. What will your idea become?”

Created for the Google I/O developers’ conference in San Francisco. Directed by F.X. Goby for Nexus. From Nexus:

The Story of an Idea follows the story of ‘Aye’, protecting and nurturing ‘Idea’ until it evolves into something stellar. In order to tell that story F.X. directed a team of over 40 studio artists at Nexus to reflect the evolution of animation itself. The film builds from hand-drawn 2D black-and-white animation to a full cg vfx-heavy grand finale and was combined with a full soundtrack in surround sound for an advanced concert audio system. Says F.X.: “It felt like all the planets were aligned. We had the full trust and support of Google from the beginning, it was extremely collaborative working with the creative team there and equally the most challenging and smooth running project I’ve had the chance to work on.”

great Animation….it is Fantastic when a small Idea becomes that Big and opens up to the world…
I’m an Illustrator /Sculptor from Holland the Netherlands and full of Ideas… google pictures Michel Manders and you find things I made…the Problem I have is…there is 1 Idea I had 20 Years ago that is evolved in my Head…but never came out…I never can talk about it in the open cause there are Scalpers anywhere….I’m workin’ on it for many years to get it Illustrated …but it is a lot of work…Hopefully it will see the light some day…
    A great Idea can be a Burden….

Great idea, too bad it was already a children’s book titled “What do you do with an Idea?” Kobi Yamada (Author), Mae Besom (Illustrator) published in 2014. It follows a boy who has an idea, the idea is also represented as a golden egg that continues to grow. It starts in black in white and moves to full color by the end when the idea is released to the world. Do none of these people do any basic research before they do these projects? Its right out of Brian Gabriel’s articles about the “Moodsters” and “Zootopia”. It was particularly disturbing to see the parallels between “The Christmas Toy” and “Toy Story.” Original ideas seem to be in short supply.
