  • This is a must see, Awhile back there was a exhibit of his personal work at the Howard Lowery Galley in Burbank and his stuff is Out Of This World!! He change the way I see expanding yourself personally as a artist.. And I was lucky enough to tell him so…
Also the catalog of that show was so great I grabbed two, one to have and one to cut up!

    Cool. Thanks for sharing.

  • Will there be a catalog of the works in this exhibition?

  • There used to be a restaurant in Silverlake called the Crest, that had a bunch of Mark Davis paintings on the walls. I’d go in there to draw in my sketchbook hoping some of his magic would rub off on my page. There is a wonderful simplicity to his work thats difficult to describe but easy to appreciate. I don’t know why there were a dozen or so of his paintings in this random dinner but in my head I liked to think that it used to be his old “haunt” and if I sat there long enough I might see his pale blue/green ghost trying to hitch a ride. :)

He was the best. Go check out his work.

That tree looks like the one he painted in “4 Artists Paint 1 Tree” where Disney had him, Eyvind Earle, Walt Peregoy, and Josh Meador paint…you guessed it, a tree.

You can watch it on the special features of the new Saludos Amigos/Three Caballeros DVD.

  • I was fortunate enough to be a guest of Marc and Alice at their home some years back. The entire home was filled top to bottom with Marc’s paintings and drawings as well as works they collected during their travels. This was a couple years before the works went up for sale so I got a good gander at an abundance of artwork. Just AMAZING stuff. Trevor nailed it, the tree is the same one painted in the “4 artist’s paint a tree” short. There are at least 2 versions of this tree, the one pictured here on Brew and another that’s black and white on toned paper.
