Charles Shopsin has posted a January 1941 article from Popular Science about Disney’s pioneering sound processes for Fantasia on his Modern Mechanix blog. It features some unique photos of the sound engineers and audio technicians at work on this groundbreaking achievement.

An additional article from August 1941 issue of The Journal of the Society of Motion Picture Engineers appears on the website (go to their Milestones In Sound link, and eventually you will be able to get to several SMPE articles and white papers on Fantasound).

There is also some marvellous speculation of the intent of Fantasia to be presented as a widescreen release, a Disney first (along with Fantasound).
