Watch the Opening Titles of Disney’s ‘Star vs. The Forces of Evil’

Disney’s new TV series Star vs. The Forces of Evil will air a special preview on Sunday, January 18, at 9pm ET on the Disney Channel. The series will begin airing regularly at a yet-to-be-announced date in 2015 on Disney XD.

As we’ve pointed out before, show creator Daron Nefcy, a 2009 CalArts graduate, is astonishingly just the second woman to create a TV series by herself at Disney TV Animation in the division’s 30-plus year history. The only other woman to create a Disney TV Animation series was Sue Rose, who made Pepper Ann 17 years ago.

Below are the show’s main title theme (performed by Brad Breeck) and the end credits (performed by Sher).

Absolutely BLEW my mind with Pepper Ann being made 17 years ago…

and unfortunately I don’t have the patience to watch the clips because this ad is both INSUFFERABLE and like 5 minutes long?

    • Josh Moore

Let’s not to mention the buffering/downloading stinks. Whenever I play a video it focuses back to the first video or to another commercial.

    • Sasha

youtube version of the second video :D

  • Josh Moore

I absolutely fell in love with the theme song when I first saw it from a camera rip recording from SDCC on Youtube. Nice to see a better quality vesion of this song. Disney has been on a hot streak with it’s TV animation department.

Same here – probably one of the best and most quirkiest opening themes songs I’ve heard in a long while. Can’t wait to give the series a watch.

      • Josh Moore

I find it more catchier than Gravity Falls’s instrumental theme.

    • Paul M

Looks good, sounds good – but, you know, fingers crossed and everything – but bad writing could still make it suck.

      • James VanDam

I am also hoping it will be good.

  • AmidAmidi

Thanks, Jess. I replaced the TV Guide link for the opening with the YouTube version. Unfortunately, the closing video still has the annoying ads.

    • Jess

Hopefully the creator will also upload the ending credits there eventually too. Thanks for the updated post !

  • FM Hansen

    Looks very cool and fun

  • jhalpernkitcat

That theme song is tons of fun!

  • Kusanagi

It’s amazing how 40 seconds of animation and a tune can be extrapolated into “the best year ever”. Like any of this new Disney stuff even comes close to their golden age years.

  • Mike

This looks great! Fun animation and I’m getting a sort of Steven Universe meets Gravity Falls meets Wander Over Yonder vibe. And that is a beautiful thing. Can’t wait to see more!

    • Josh Moore

For some reason, I see some MLP:FiM in there too particularily with the ending theme.

  • Christian Larocque

good job mercury filmworks for the kick ass intro

    • Josh Moore

They’re pretty much to Disney to like Nick was with Klasky Csupo in the 90s except they’re not their shows’ main production company.

  • Delta

I’m trying to figure out if this is flash animation. With ‘Wander Over Yonder’, it actually took me a while to find out because I could still feel mass and weight with every movement. Not that it’ll be bad- I’m looking forward to this one.

And isn’t Brad Breeck the composer of Gravity Falls?

    • Diana David

maybe it’s toon boom? you can feel it’s “flash” animation specially on the knees and feet.

  • Diana David

I’m just crazy with this opening! It looks really cool! …Unfortunately
I think the faster rhythm of the music shown on SDCC was a little better, anyway… still looking forward to this!

  • Papier

Then they’ll just have to lay everyone off the minute production ends.

  • JonesDraws

    This looks great!

  • BurntToShreds

By “airing regularly”, do you mean “after 5 episodes, the show will be put on hiatus for several months for no good reason whatsoever”? Because that seems to be the average experience for recent Disney cartoons.

    • starss

That’s the average experience for ANY United States network cartoon nowadays.

  • JonesDraws

    This looks awesome!

  • James VanDam

I love this opening. I now want to own a lazor puppy.

  • Lazer-Lion

as much as this looks like Disney’s version of Steven Universe, I will give it a try.

  • Kusanagi

Obviously, you haven’t seen “Sofia the First”. What a terribly animated and written show. It is hard to believe that Disney does it.

    • Chinoiserie

Isn’t that for for toddlers though?

      • Fried

NO! Every piece of animation must also be entertaining to young adults otherwise it’s garbage!

I hate Dora the Explorer so much!!
