Chris Prynoski Developing ‘Foxy Trotter’ With Natalie Portman

Titmouse co-founder Chris Prynoski (Nerdland) is developing a new animated feature, Foxy Trotter, with actress Natalie Portman and her production company, Fairy Dust.

Set in 1970s Los Angeles and following the adventures of a rock photographer named Foxy Trotter, the film is based on a screenplay written by Jess Rotter, Michael Reich, Jessica Hindley and Mike Pinkney. Here’s a synopsis:

LA in the 70s, and everything is sex, drugs and rock & roll. Super-talented and gorgeous rock photographer Foxy Trotter is always looking for that perfect shot that will ‘save the world’. But when rival snapper Gunter steals her film, as well as compromising photos of her childhood friend, singer Ronnie, Foxy has no choice but to saddle up her legendary motorbike and follow Ronnie on the Mayem K-Hog Tour. So begins a crazy road trip across the freakiest, most surreal parts of America and through a parallel psychedelic dimension known as the O-zone, to rescue her friend, her reputation… and the world from a demonic apocalypse… An irreverent animated movie starring the sexiest heroine you’ve ever seen, Foxy Trotter is a wild musical journey into the furthest reaches of the permissive 1970s.

Prynoski will produce the film through Titmouse with Portman, who is set to voice one of the characters. Bold Films is also on board as a producer.

The film is currently in script stage. Paris-based sales company Wild Bunch is shopping the script around this week at American Film Market in Los Angeles.

Screen Daily first reported this news.

"Foxy Trotter."
  • It will be interested in how this is received at AFM. When I tried taking an animated adult comedy there a couple of years ago, I got a bunch of blank stares and a few, maybe you should do Sundance.

I don’t know where that one image you have came from, but I can’t help but feel surely they can do better than that. I wish I had a more positive reaction towards what could potentially be a very interesting project.

And I hate to say it, but in light of some of the recent revelations, I have to wonder where they’re coming from setting this in the sleazy 70s “starring the sexiest heroine you’ve ever seen”!

Maybe they should get the Weinstein Company to distribute this? :-)

That image looks ripe for the eschergirls tumblr blog.

      Such a tiny torso.

I hope you two are kidding, there are people in real life that does look like this and can move like that.

I really hope you are joking, as in a satire way, because if you only want animation to be straight on stage play angles and people who look like a stick up their bum then maybe animation of any kind is not for you. Perhaps you people should stop watching Brojack and Mr Pickles and look at photographs of actual people, or anything not American Animated because heaven help us if you are the audience in charge.

I wasn’t the biggest fan of Nerdland, but I’m down to seeing new animated films.

Could be interesting. But will it have more than just T&A?

  • The animation world is in real need of another Bakshi-type animation visionary / wacko, and Pyronski seems like the kinda guy perfect for that role. I love his work, and Titmouse is one of my favorite animation studios, so I’m really looking forward to this!

Art is bad. Timing is worse. Seen enough Hollywood debauchery in real life and on screen for one lifetime…

I’m afraid I’ve seen too much ‘adult’ animation that was ‘adult’ in the most juvenile sense of the word. It would be more interesting to see an alternative that was adult in terms of sophistication, artistic expression, and actual maturity. Although my hat is off to anyone willing to try. Getting even a bad or a flawed film all the way to completion and release is like climbing an Everest.

But we already have all of those artistic expression and sophistication and those are modern kid cartoons like Gravity Falls, Adventure Time and more which leave not much for adult animation.

And sometime it’s just nice to be a little silly, a bit Juvenile. Because if we all stayed stiff lipped and deconstructing the bloom will come off the “mature” rose and show what “Mature adult” animation really is, very badly drawn sitcoms.
