“Gobbled” by Naz Ghodrati-Azadi

Naz Ghodrati-Azadi is a 2009 Graduate of Sheridan’s Bachelor program in Classical Animation. She’s since moved to Burbank and is currently working as a freelance Animator/Character Layout artist at Warner Bros. Naz finally finished the hand drawn animated film she started years ago at Sheridan and has graciously posted it online for us to enjoy — just in time for Thanksgiving:

Cute film. Wished it had all been done pantomime—would have been even better.

But what the hell is “classical animation?” There’s no such thing….Weird.

    • Meh, I thought the voices were fine. Loved Butterball’s run cycle!

I’ll have to see it with the sound on when I get home tonight but love Ms. Ghodrati-Azadi’s use of color among other things here (Good character design; good animation etc). The characters really stand out. Which has been a pet peeve of mine since vectorizing of clean-up seems to make alot of animators use alot of indiscriminate soft colors in the background and characters making stuff hard to read IMO.

Similar premise to a Sheridan film from the late 70s/early 80s about 3 chickens making a great escape. I think two of the chickens have mishaps. The third gets picked up by a trucker with a creepy voice and laugh; “Which way you headed…., chicken?” Camera trucks-out, the trucker is colonel Sanders.

I wished the turkey had said “my wings” or “my feathers” instead of “my hands”. Took me out of it a bit. Lovely animation and designs though.

  • Great layout and voice acting. Fun stuff!
