Woo hoo!!!! I’ve been waiting for this since Nick did “Waif”!! Thanks for posting about this- I loooooove Nick’s work!

  • $#(%)!

    Loved it. Awesome!

  • Jay Sabicer

Interesting choice of title. Yellowcake is the name of the first stage of preparing Uranium into reactor fuel or for nuclear warheads. Seems the bakers were in a no-win situation with the oafish felines. Excellent animation from a one-man operation.

I can’t get Vimeo at work.. but i’ll be sure to look for this film in Ottawa.

Art work looks great though. Can’t wait!

This is just fantastic. I think it has some of the nicest backgrounds I’ve ever seen!

I caught this last night. Wonderful piece, and a huge Bravo to Nick Cross. I know some people are going to compare this to Spumco work. But trust me, this is something else. Something different. Maybe something evil (and I mean that in a good way).

That was awesome! Also, the film has a beautiful vintage cartoon visual style. I enjoyed that very much. Congrats to Nick Cross.

ooooooh I love it! Now THERE’S something you’ll never see funded by someone like “Cartoonstitute”. Really very enjoyable, loved the ending.

  • Jeremy Fries

  • i liked it but…

I wished this film would have remained silent before the Ottawa fest, personally.

Now i’m gonna have to watch it twice :(

Other than a good story and cinematography, i found the “line width” situation a little distracting on the characters. I also thought they didn’t go well at all with the “classical” style backgrounds.

But and in all, great job. Just wished i hadn’t seen it before Ottawa thats all. I like surprises.

  • Tim Schuit

That was fucking awesome. I laughed, I was shocked (my jaw dropped when they burnt the mayor alive….totally unconventional for a “cute” cartoon like this)….and the message was clear without being preachy.

Nick you are my new hero.

  • http://anikey.blogspot.com/ Albert

    Nice one! Loved it!

  • Karim

Well, what about people who can’t go to festivals?

  • http://bakertoons.blogspot.com/ Charles Brubaker

I loved it. The message gets through loud and clear.

    Great animation, too.

  • R.A. MacNeil

Amazing film, awesome animation. Starts like a “Happy Harmony” then turns into 1984.

  • Angry Anim

WOW! What an acomplishment!! Well done… and excellent use of library music, too!

  • julian chaney

WOW! that was a nice film .bright future to you Nick .

  • akira

cool! i love the animation of the cat king coming off the throne… and all the other cartoony animation, too!!

  • http://joelbrinkerhoff.blogspot.com/ Joel Brinkerhoff

Engrossing, and unfortunately relevant for today.

  • leticia

    Very political and well-done!!
    Loved it!

  • Charles Thompson

I was thinking this cartoon was Smurfs meets Battle of Algiers only drawn better. Very good.

  • G Melissa Graziano

Awesome!! Can’t wait to see it on the big screen at Ottawa!

  • Pheslaki

I found the allegory a little too on-the-nose to be amusing, and the character design and animation reeked of spumco rip-off.

  • Adam

    Now THAT’S a cartoon!

  • http://www.skylineart.blogspot.com Vinny

Wow, I think “damn good” is quite the understatement. Loved every minute.

  • http://chrisallison.blogspot.com Chris Allison
