“Chicken or the Egg” by Christine Kim and Elaine Wu

It’s refreshing to see a student short where the filmmakers just get it. The Chicken or the Egg by Christine Kim and Elaine Wu is a solid piece of entertainment in every respect: storytelling, pacing, cutting, character animation, sound design, you name it. They produced the film at Ringling College of Art and Design.

Quite charming indeed: Kudos. HAHA I was REALLY expecting the ironic twist of the pig coming home and catching the chicken eating some bacon. The irony with short films, as opposed to commercial features, is that you never expect the shorts to have a straight up happy ending :)

I’ll admit that after reading your comment, I kept waiting for the pig to realize that the chicken ordered bacon at the diner, after he first threw away his eggs.

    • Agreed. Fantastic craftsmanship no doubt. Wish it would’ve had a bigger payoff.

  • Sean Vecchione

These two ladies were a part of our amazing senior year of 2013. They were in my class and it was always inspiring to see their progress. Great job, KimWu!

Did anyone else notice the egg with eyes in the bed with them when they wake up together for the first time?

Amazing work, and now we know what Christina Hendricks would look like as a chicken :) Great short!
