Being asked to sell stale, dried noodles in a cup must rank as an ad agency creative director’s worst nightmare, but Japanese noodle cup maker Nissin found a workaround by conveniently ignoring the reality of what they’re selling.
For their “Hungry to Win” campaign, the noodle-peddler hired veteran animator Kazuto Nakazawa (Kill Bill, Genius Party Beyond, The Animatrix) and animation studio LOGAN to create a high-energy 30-second action piece with dubious relevance to the dried soup world.
The commerical features the likenesses of Manchester United’s Wayne Rooney, Robin van Persie and Angel Di Maria, made possible by the fact that Nissin is the soccer team’s “Official Global Noodle Partner.”
