Friangle Friangle

The “Friangle” phenomenon began when a single low-angle sketch of Frieren, the elven mage protagonist of the fantasy anime Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End, streaming on Crunchyroll, hit social media just over a week ago, and it has occupied the internet animation community in the days since.

The drawing’s seemingly impossible perspective and infamously pointy chin instantly baffled viewers, prompting artists everywhere to attempt their own “fixed” versions. What started as a simple joke quickly exploded into a cross-platform challenge, with thousands of redraws, animations, and tutorials appearing within days.

Early reactions brought out the internet’s worst instincts: nitpicking, mockery, and endless debates about anatomy. But the tone shifted just as fast. Professionals and beginners began sharing notes, cheering on even the most chaotic attempts, and treating the angle as a communal puzzle rather than a mistake to be derided. The series’ English-language voice actor, Mallorie Rodak, even changed her X (formerly Twitter) profile picture to the original viral drawing.

By the time the original artist joined the conversation, the Friangle had transformed into a surprisingly wholesome showcase of creativity and collective problem-solving. The original artist, SpaceDev1, posted his thanks online, writing:

So my drawing blew up. It even became a meme. Thank you so much for that.

Thank you for sending me countless tips on how to draw faces/perspective. Thank you very much for that too.

I’m happy that it inspired a lot of you to draw this apparently hard angle. I’m glad that you challenged yourself to do better than I did.

I’m absolutely flattered this drawing became Mallorie Rodak’s pfp. Thank’s for that.

I just shared it because it looked silly, but omg the publicity, the tips. I didn’t even know that drawing would touch that many people’s soul. Thank you!

I don’t know what else to say except I included a crappy “Stark” drawing to complete the family. Thank you!

Idk if this sounds dramatic I just wanna show I appreciate all of your support.

Below, we’ve picked out a few of our favorite Friangles. Feel free to add yours in the comments section below.
