‘Jujutsu Kaisen’ Season 3 Coming In January, Crunchyroll Drops New Teaser
Jujutsu Kaisen will return with its third season in January 2026, Crunchyroll announced during a live-streamed event marking the franchise’s fifth anniversary. The new installment, subtitled The Culling Game, will be available exclusively on Crunchyroll outside of Asia with weekly episodes streaming the same day as their Japanese broadcast.
Produced by Toho Animation and animated by Mappa, Jujutsu Kaisen has become one of the most prominent global anime franchises since its 2020 debut. The manga by Gege Akutami has more than 100 million copies in circulation worldwide and concluded its run in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump in 2024. The franchise’s feature adaptation, Jujutsu Kaisen 0, grossed $196 million globally. That figure includes $34.5 million in North America, where it sits as the fifth-highest-grossing anime of all time.
Season 1 of the series aired from 2020 to 2021, followed by Season 2 in 2023, which adapted the Hidden Inventory and Shibuya Incident arcs. The upcoming season will continue directly from those events, with Shota Goshozono directing and Hiroshi Seko returning for series composition and scriptwriting.
A teaser trailer released during the anniversary presentation previewed key moments from the upcoming storyline, including protagonist Yuji Itadori confronting the fallout of the Shibuya Incident and a battle with Yuta Okkotsu, the lead character from the 2021 prequel feature Jujutsu Kaisen 0. Characters Megumi Fushiguro, Choso, and Maki Zen’in also appeared briefly, along with the introduction of Naoya Zen’in.
