Middle School Is Murder In The Recently-Announced Anime Adaptation Of Hit Manga ‘Kill Blue’
Tokyo-based e-commerce and internet company Dmm.com has announced an anime adaptation of Kill Blue, the hit Shonen Jump manga from Tadatoshi Fujimaki, best known for Kuroko’s Basketball and Robot×Laserbeam. The series is slated to premiere in 2026, with a teaser visual and promotional video already offering fans a first glimpse at the show’s pulsating action and wickedly funny twist.
Kill Blue follows Jūzō Ōgami, an elite assassin with a flawless track record who suddenly finds himself trapped in the body of a 13-year-old after a run-in with a mysterious wasp. Ordered to infiltrate a middle school by his organization, Jūzō must balance the absurdities of adolescence with life-or-death missions against eccentric rival killers. The series mixes high-octane action with offbeat comedy in what Fujimaki describes as a “redo-your-youth” story with a sharp edge.
The project assembles an experienced creative team. Hiro Kaburagi (Great Pretender, Kimi ni Todoke) is attached to direct, with character designs by Miho Daidōji, who previously served as animation director on Kuroko’s Basketball and chief animation director for Kimi ni Todoke season three. Animation production is being handled by Cue.
Fujimaki expressed gratitude to the manga’s readership, commenting, “Seeing Jūzō’s strange new school life brought to animation is a dream come true. Please look forward to the anime in 2026!”
The original manga, published by Shueisha’s Jump Comics, has ten volumes currently in print, with Volume 11 scheduled for release on September 4.
