Here’s what we know about the upcoming release:

  • Directed by Mamoru Hosoda (Summer Wars, Wolf Children), The Boy and The Beast follows Kyuta, a young orphan who stumbles into a hidden world of beasts and becomes the apprentice of a fierce warrior named Kumatetsu. As the two train together, they form an unlikely father-son bond tested by a growing threat to both their worlds.

  • Crunchyroll has a strong track record of theatrical anime success, having brought titles like Demon Slayer: Mugen Train and One Piece Film: Red to audiences across North America. This event continues their commitment to spotlighting acclaimed anime films on the big screen.
  • Crunchyroll parent company, Sony, will release Hosoda’s new film Scarlet in U.S. theaters on December 12, 2025.
