Prime Video To Stream Anime Anthology Of ‘Chainsaw Man’ Manga Creator Tatsuki Fujimoto’s Early Works
On November 7, Prime Video will debut Tatsuki Fujimoto 17-26, an anthology anime adapting eight early short stories from the Chainsaw Man creator. The series will stream exclusively on Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories.
The project revisits manga artist Fujimoto’s formative works, written between the ages of 17 and 26. Each episode adapts a standalone story, spanning genres from post-apocalyptic survival to surreal comedy, romance, and psychological drama. Titles include A Couple Clucking Chickens Were Still Kickin’ in the Schoolyard, Love is Blind, Mermaid Rhapsody, and Nayuta of the Prophecy.
The series assembles an impressive lineup of six animation studios: ZEXCS, Lapin Track, GRAPH77, 100studio, Studio Kafka, and P.A.WORKS. Seven directors contribute episodes, including Tetsuaki Watanabe, Nobuyuki Takeuchi, Kazuaki Terasawa, Seishiro Nagaya, Nobukage Kimura, Naoya Ando, and Osamu Honma.
“These early short stories capture the creative spark that later grew into Chainsaw Man and Look Back,” said Thomas Dubois, head of French and Japanese originals at Prime Video. “With the vision of outstanding directors and studios, we believe 17-26 will resonate with global audiences.”
Fujimoto himself admitted some hesitation about seeing his student-era works adapted, but expressed trust in the directors: “Although I haven’t seen them yet, I believe they’ve become proper, well-crafted pieces.”
