Though I Am An Inept Villainess Sets January Return; My Hero Academia Reimagines ‘You Say Run’

Toho has announced that Though I Am an Inept Villainess will return next January, along with new casting and a key visual for the anime’s second cour.

Titled “The First Royal Outing” arc, the new storyline sends Reirin and Keigetsu to the southern territories for a harvest festival. After an accident causes the pair to swap bodies once again, Reirin is abducted, and a new plot to frame Keigetsu begins to emerge.

Yuichi Nakamura and Shunichi Toki will voice Reirin’s overprotective older brothers, Keikou and Keishou, respectively. Chiaki Kobayashi will voice Unran, the young leader of a southern village who becomes an important figure in the expanding story. An exact premiere date has not yet been announced.

The anime, adapted from Satsuki Nakamura’s light novel series, debuted in July. Its first cour follows the ostracized Keigetsu as she uses forbidden magic to exchange bodies with the beloved but sickly Reirin.

In other Toho news, My Hero Academia composer Yuki Hayashi has teamed with German electronicore band Electric Callboy for a new version of the show’s signature track “You Say Run.”

The collaboration retains Hayashi’s orchestral composition while adding English lyrics, EDM elements, pop hooks, and vocals from Electric Callboy’s Kevin Ratajczak and Nico Sallach. It debuted live at the My Hero Academia in Concert event in London on September 20 and will receive a global streaming release on September 22.

Bones Film also created new anniversary artwork featuring Deku performing a “Smash,” modeled after the anime’s original Season One soundtrack cover. The release is part of the franchise’s yearlong tenth-anniversary celebration.
