2026 Oscars Features 2026 Oscars Features

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has confirmed the 35 titles competing in the Animated Feature Film category for the upcoming 98th Academy Awards.

Voting in the category will again be led by the Animation Branch, whose members are automatically eligible to participate. In addition, Academy members from other branches may opt in, provided they commit to the minimum viewing requirements. From this combined pool, five nominees will be selected, with a winner announced during the Oscars ceremony on March 16.

According to the Academy, some of the titles have not yet completed their qualifying theatrical runs, and those films will need to secure their required release and meet all remaining eligibility criteria before they can move forward in the voting process. The specific titles that haven’t met this requirement weren’t indicated in today’s release.

As in previous years, films entered in the Animated Feature race remain eligible for recognition in other Oscar categories, including Best Picture. Animated features submitted as their country’s official entry in the International Feature Film category are also allowed to compete here. The International Feature and Documentary lists were also released today, which we will highlight in a separate article.
