Singapore will be celebrating the very best of modern French animation during the French Animation Film Festival, taking place from March 22nd to 30th 2012.

Organised by the Alliance Francaise de Singapour, the event is the first of its kind and will see a series of French cartoon films screened at the Alliance Francaise Theatre.

The festival opens with The Rabbi’s Cat on March 22nd, followed the next day by a showcase of works from the famous Gobelins L’Ecole de L’Image school of visual arts in Paris.

Other films on the programme include recent cinema release A Monster In Paris, Oscar nominees The Illusionist and A Cat in Paris, 3D movie Tales of the Night and finally the acclaimed The Triplets of Belleville.

Each of these films will be screened at the Alliance Francaise Theatre with tickets costing S$7.20 (£3.70), with the exception of Tales of the Night, which will be shown at the Cathay Cineplex and will cost S$10.

The festival will run concurrent to an animation exhibition at the Societe Generale Gallery, while a free French Animation Conference also takes place on March 24th, featuring talks from filmmakers.
