TELETOON & Skywriter sign up for summer camp series ‘Camp Lakebottom’

TORONTO (February 8, 2011) — Skywriter Media & Entertainment Group and TELETOON Canada inc. have partnered to develop the children’s series, Camp Lakebottom.  Created by Betsy McGowen and Eric Jacobson, the animated comedy follows the hilarious summer adventures of Lakebottom’s rambunctious young campers and their creep show counselors. Developed by Skywriter’s Meghan Davies and TELETOON’s Athena Georgaklis; written by Shelly Hoffman and Rob Pincombe (Kid vs Kat); designed by Jam Filled’s Phil Lafrance and Jamie Leclaire (Jimmy Two Shoes, Crash Canyon) and executive produced by Skywriter Television’s Kevin Gillis (Atomic Betty, Jimmy Two Shoes).   The television series is being developed for cross platform digital integration where users can log onto an online ‘camp’, play games and create their own unique avatar using augmented reality.

Camp Lakebottom is a half-hour, animated comedy, targeted for boys and girls in the 6-11 audience. The show will take viewers into the most awesomely horrible summer camp in the world. The cabins are possessed, the staff members are a real creep show… and the kids are having way too much fun! With outrageous set-ups, plentiful freaks of nature and campers so over-the-top, they have to hang out a sixth story window just to tie their shoes, Camp Lakebottom will be the funniest, most horrifying vacation paradise on TV!

“Camp Lakebottom is about as near to perfect fun that a kid could imagine. The kids run the camp, the counselors are zombies and monsters, and the parents have NO idea what’s really going on,’ said Kevin Gillis, Executive Producer. “ We are happy to be working with TELETOON to make Camp Lakebottom every kid’s dream destination.”

“We’re thrilled to be working with the Skywriter team on Camp Lakebottom — a series that speaks to the imagination of our viewers,” said Alan Gregg, Director of Original Content, TELETOON Canada inc.
