Skibidi Toilet Skibidi Toilet

The wildly unpredictable path Skibidi Toilet has taken from YouTube oddity to Hollywood franchise advanced another step forward this week, according to a report from Variety.

The magazine revealed that the almost-too-ironically named Invisible Narratives, the media company leading the property’s expansion, has secured $25 million in new venture capital financing for the development of projects based on the viral phenomenon.

Invisible Narratives was founded by former Paramount Pictures president Adam Goodman and bills itself as a studio focused on turning internet-native properties into larger entertainment brands. Skibidi Toilet, created by animator Alexey Gerasimov under the DaFuq!?Boom! banner, is its highest-profile bet to date. The off-kilter series, produced with Valve’s Source Filmmaker, became one of YouTube’s biggest breakout hits after its 2023 launch and has since generated billions of views.

Variety reports that the company’s latest funding round is intended to support production, licensing, and franchise-building efforts around several properties, including Skibidi Toilet. Michael Bay is attached to the project through Invisible Narratives, which has previously said it is developing and financing a cinematic interpretation of the property that would bring the director’s large-scale action sensibilities to the seemingly unlikely source material. That said, anyone familiar with Skibidy Toilet will know that the franchise is no stranger to massive action setpieces, even if their logic is sometimes hard to decipher.

The financing news arrives nearly two years after Goodman and Bay first outlined ambitions to transform Skibidi Toilet into a film and television franchise. At the time, the pair compared the project’s storytelling potential to large-scale genre franchises and argued that the property’s devoted online audience could translate into a broader entertainment business.
