The Cartoon Brew Livestream: A New Documentary About Disney And Laika Legend Kent Melton
Cartoon Brew’s bi-monthly Friday livestream airs today on our Youtube channel starting at 11am Pacific / 2pm Eastern.
On this week’s episode, we’re joined by stop-motion artist Maria Andreotti, who is here to talk about a new documentary project that she is directing about master sculptor and unsung animation legend Kent Melton.
Melton, who passed away earlier this year, worked on over 15 Disney animated features, from Aladdin through Tangled, sculpting three-dimensional maquettes of characters that helped guide the work of the animators. Post-Disney, he continued doing the same work at Laika, creating maquettes for the stop-motion films Coraline, ParaNorman, and The Boxtrolls.
