KitBash3D And Greyscalegorilla Merge To Expand 3D Tools And Assets
KitBash3D and Greyscalegorilla, two widely used 3D content creation tools, have announced a merger aimed at creating a more powerful kit for artists across film, games, broadcast, and advertising.
Founded in 2017, KitBash3D is best known for its world-building kits and its Cargo platform, now used by more than 250,000 creators worldwide, including Marvel, Netflix, and 2K Games. Greyscalegorilla, established in 2009, is recognized for its plugins, materials, and training resources for Cinema 4D, used by broadcasters like NBC and ESPN, as well as brands such as Google and Nike.
By combining forces, the companies say they will fast-track R&D, expand asset libraries, and deliver more cohesive tools for workflows spanning Cinema 4D, Unreal Engine, and Blender. Both companies stressed continuity for existing customers, promising no changes to pricing or support.
“3D has become a keystone for how we tell stories and build virtual worlds, yet creators are still limited by barriers in their workflows,” said Banks Boutté, co-founder and co-CEO of KitBash3D. “This merger lets us accelerate the pursuit of removing those hurdles while keeping artists at the center.”
Leadership from both sides will remain in place. KitBash3D co-founders Maxx Burman and Boutté will continue as co-CEOs. Greyscalegorilla founder Nick Campbell will serve as chief innovation officer, overseeing product development. Drew Little, co-founder of Red Giant, has joined as board chairman.
Campbell framed the deal as “an invitation” to build a larger, more connected ecosystem for 3D creators. Industry veteran Sebastien Deguy, founder of Substance, praised the move, calling it a chance to “shape the next chapter for 3D creators.”
