What’s Opera, Doc? Bugs Bunny Returns To The Hollywood Bowl For An Anniversary Encore
The Looney Tunes are heading back to the Hollywood Bowl for a double celebration this summer: the 85th anniversary of the Bugs Bunny character and the 35th anniversary of Bugs Bunny at the Symphony.
On July 11 and 12, the Hollywood Bowl will host a concert pairing 17 classic Looney Tunes cartoons with a live performance of their original orchestral scores by Carl Stalling and Milt Franklyn, led by conductor and co-creator George Daugherty.
Presented on the Bowl’s massive screens, the animated shorts, featuring Bugs Bunny, Elmer Fudd, Daffy Duck, Wile E. Coyote, Road Runner, and more, will be accompanied by the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra. Highlights include indelible classics such as “What’s Opera, Doc?”, “The Rabbit of Seville,” and the iconic “Long-Haired Hare,” which is famously set at an animated version of the Bowl itself.
Special guests include Emmy-winning voice actor Eric Bauza and five-time Emmy nominee Bob Bergen, the voice of Porky Pig. Created by Emmy winners Daugherty and David Ka Lik Wong, the concert has toured the globe since its 1990 debut and is credited with launching the “film-and-live-orchestra” genre.
In addition to the music and animation, audiences can enjoy pre-show art activities from the Chuck Jones Center for Creativity and photo ops with Bugs and Daffy courtesy of Six Flags Magic Mountain.
