Venice Immersive, which has become one of the leading international events for the VR/AR/XR community over the past several years, has unveiled this year’s lineup of selected titles. The event will take place from August 31 to September 6 at the Venice Film Festival, with the press granted access one day early on August 30.

This year’s lineup features 44 projects from 25 countries totaling more than 21 hours of interactive media. The section is entirely devoted to immersive media and open to all forms of XR productions of any length, including installations and virtual worlds.

This year’s Venice Immersive lineup is divided into four sections:

  • Competition
  • Best of Venice Immersive – Out of Competition
  • Biennale College Cinema – VR: 1
  • World Gallery

The first is fairly self-explanatory, but the Out of Competition section features works that have premiered elsewhere over the last year, the College Cinema section features five projects developed through grants provided at previous editions of Venice Immersive, and the Worlds Gallery takes users on a tour of VRChat worlds created by independent artists from around the planet.

For those who can’t make it to Italy for this year’s Biennale, a digital version of this year’s Immersive event will be held on VRChat.
