‘Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender’ Moves Up Release Date, Unveils Trailer For Those Who Skipped The Leak
The long distribution nightmare for Avatar Studios’ first feature will now end earlier than originally expected.
Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender has moved up its Paramount+ release date to July 25, nearly three months earlier than its previously announced October 9 release. Paramount confirmed the new date alongside the film’s first full trailer, which offers the clearest look yet at the long-awaited return of an adult Aang and the original Team Avatar.
The earlier streaming debut comes just months after the film leaked online in April, which itself followed a major setback when the once-meant-for-streaming feature was instead relegated straight to streaming. The spring leak spread widely across social media and piracy sites, prompting widespread support from fans and animation professionals urging viewers to wait for the official release. Authorities later arrested a suspect in Singapore in connection with the breach, while Paramount concluded the leak did not originate from its own systems.
Directed by Lauren Montgomery and co-directed by William Mata, the film follows Aang, Katara, Sokka, Toph, and their allies years after the events of the original television series. The voice cast includes Eric Nam as Aang, Jessica Matten as Katara, Román Zaragoza as Sokka, Dionne Quan as Toph, with Dave Bautista, Steven Yeun, and J.K. Simmons also featuring.
