‘Despicable Me’ Producer John Cohen, ‘Haunted Hotel’ Showrunner Matt Roller Join ‘Miraculous’ Theatrical Feature Team
Miraculous Corp, a joint venture between European giant Mediawan and ZAG, has unveiled the creative team that will helm its upcoming Miraculous theatrical animated feature, marking a major step forward for the global hit franchise.
Producer John Cohen (Despicable Me, The Angry Birds Movie) and writer Matt Roller (Rick and Morty, Community) will collaborate with Miraculous creator Jeremy Zag, who also serves as producer on the film. The announcement was made by Andy Yeatman, CEO of Miraculous Corp USA and Global Operations.
In a joint statement, Jeremy Zag and Mediawan CEO Pierre-Antoine Capton said:
We are incredibly proud to open a new chapter for Miraculous Corp, and to see our ambition come to life on the big screen with a feature film. United by a shared vision, we are dedicated to bringing Miraculous to a global audience and further developing this exceptional franchise by exploring new creative frontiers and producing ambitious projects led by top talent and driven by the passion of our creative teams. We are delighted to welcome John Cohen and Matt Roller into Miraculous Corp, who will join us in taking Ladybug and Cat Noir to new heights and enchanting audiences around the world.
Cohen said:
I’ve been a huge fan of Miraculous for years. Few franchises in the world have captured hearts the way Miraculous has, with its mix of character-driven storytelling, fantastic comedy, breathtaking action, and empowering themes. This is a series that has become a true cultural icon, uniting fans from Paris to São Paulo to Seoul. The chance to help craft Ladybug and Cat Noir’s global theatrical feature film—building on their incredible legacy—was irresistible.
Roller commented:
What excites me about Miraculous is how it balances epic superhero spectacle with deeply relatable characters and stories about real emotions—love, trust, jealousy, hope. That combination makes it a dream playground for a storyteller. I can’t wait to take these heroes and their world into a fresh, exciting chapter that will surprise audiences while staying true to everything they love about Miraculous.
The Miraculous franchise, co-produced by Mediawan and ZAG, has become a worldwide phenomenon since its 2015 debut, airing in over 150 countries and amassing more than 48 billion YouTube views.
The feature film marks Miraculous Corp’s latest step in expanding the universe of Ladybug and Cat Noir into a new era of global storytelling. The franchise has already released a hugely successful musical feature on Netflix, and in October of last year, Yeatman announced an anime-inspired spin-off, Miraculous Stellar Force, which was later picked up for distribution by Disney Branded Television.
