IF IF

Paramount Pictures has released the first trailer for John Krasinski’s upcoming live-action/cg-animation hybrid feature IF, coming to theaters on May 17, 2024.

Paramount’s brief synopsis for the film reads: “IF is about a girl who discovers that she can see everyone’s imaginary friends — and what she does with that superpower — as she embarks on a magical adventure to reconnect forgotten IFs with their kids.”

Based on the trailer, it looks like most, if not all, of the invisible friends in the film will be animated. We’ve confirmed that Framestore has been working on the film’s cg animation.

In addition to the trailer, Paramount also published a behind-the-scenes video about the film’s production. According to actor and producer Ryan Reynolds, he and Krasinski have been discussing making a “live-action Pixar film” for several years.

If is directed by Krasinski, who produces via his company Sunday Night, along with Ryan Reynolds and his banner Maximum Effort, Allyson Seeger, and Andrew Form. The film stars Reynolds, Krasinski, Cailey Fleming, Fiona Shaw, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Louis Gossett Jr., Alan Kim, Liza Colón-Zayas, and Steve Carell.
