Pink Parrot Media Boards ‘Tistou’ Animated Feature, Based On The Classic French Tale
Montreal/Madrid-based Pink Parrot Media has joined the upcoming CG-animated feature Tistou, an adaptation of Maurice Druon’s beloved children’s novel Tistou les Pouces Verts (Tistou the Green Thumb).
The film, co-produced by France’s Finalement and Belgium’s Walking The Dog, is currently in development and set for delivery in 2028. Pink Parrot Media will handle worldwide distribution rights, excluding France and Benelux, and will introduce the project to buyers at the American Film Market (AFM) in Los Angeles (Nov. 11–16).
First pitched at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival, where it won a Mifa Pitch Award, Tistou targets family audiences and children aged 6–12. Written and directed by Amandine Taffin, the film follows an imaginative eight-year-old boy who discovers he can make plants grow wherever he places his thumbs, an ability that brings both wonder and chaos to his industrial hometown.
Producers include William Picot (Finalement), Eric Goossens, and Anton Roeben (Walking The Dog), with Pink Parrot’s Tania Pinto Da Cunha and Marie Claude Beauchamp serving as executive producers.
“Tistou is a deeply loved story that has taught generations of children the importance of the environment and using your talents for good,” said Pinto Da Cunha in a release. “Its themes are more relevant than ever.”
At AFM, Pink Parrot will also showcase upcoming titles, including Lotte & Totte, MoMonsters: The Movie, Unstable, and The Bottanix, further expanding its growing family animation slate.
